What Is a Registered Social Worker?

Registered social workers in a clinical setting focus on therapeutic assessment, treatment, and intervention of mental health, and emotional concerns.  Individual, couples, family, and group therapy are common treatment areas. Social workers who provide these services are required to be licensed with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW), and hold a minimum Masters degree from an accredited university.  Registered social workers also have significant training, supervision, and extensive experience working in the mental health arena.
