Michelle Spudic M.S.W., R.S.W.

Registered Social Worker / Psychotherapist

I have 19 years of experience providing clinical support to children, youth, adults, and families.  I am a registered Social Worker with the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).  I am also a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). I received a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Ryerson University in 2003 and completed my Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto in 2004.

I started my social work career supporting women and children who experienced domestic violence.  I then transitioned into child protection services.  From there, I spent many years working with children, youth, adults, and families in a variety of settings such as individual and family therapy, youth criminal justice, community mental health, trauma treatment, and as a school social worker.  These experiences made me realize my passion for supporting survivors of trauma especially those who have been impacted by sexual abuse.  Along with my private practice, I also work in a trauma treatment program for children and youth who have experienced interpersonal violence and sexual abuse.  Lastly, I offer my services to the Halton Region Victim Quick Response Program.

Although at times it may not feel like it, there is hope for healing and regulating uncomfortable and difficult emotions. During our time together, I will ensure you always feel supported throughout your healing journey.

An important part of healing is understanding the connection between the mind and body and how it relates to experiences of anxiety, depression, and trauma. A fundamental component of recognizing your needs is to create an awareness of emotions. Our bodies signal us when there is discord, and through an experiential process, I focus on helping individuals make sense of their world. My work focuses on coping with difficult body sensations while also helping you begin to think and feel differently about your experiences, your emotions, and ultimately yourself.

I have an interest in working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, burnout, and life challenges. I also specialize in working with survivors of trauma.  My areas of expertise are in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT).

My therapy space will always be a safe, open place for brave conversations.

I am an ally to gender-diverse individuals and the LGBTQ+ community.
