About me

With over 23 years of clinical experience, I support youth, adults, and families in navigating complex emotional experiences and life transitions. I am a registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) and a member of Emdria, EMDR International Association. I hold a Bachelor of Social Work from Toronto Metropolitan University (2003) and a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto (2004).

My career began working with women and children impacted by domestic violence, followed by extensive experience in child protection, youth justice, community mental health, trauma treatment, and school-based social work. Across these settings, I developed a deep commitment to supporting individuals and families affected by trauma, especially survivors of sexual abuse and those navigating complex, long-standing family dynamics.

I specialize in helping clients make sense of how past experiences shape present day emotions, relationships, and behaviours. Whether trauma stems from a single event or ongoing experiences within family systems, I work collaboratively with clients to process, understand, and move through what can often feel overwhelming or “stuck.” I am particularly passionate about helping people reconnect with their emotions, communicate more effectively, and build meaningful connections with themselves and others.

My approach is integrative, grounded primarily in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and tailored to each individual’s needs. I am actively working on certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which I frequently use to support trauma processing and to help shift experiences that have not responded to traditional talk therapy. I also draw from Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Family Therapy, and mindfulness-based practices.

I believe that healing involves both the mind and the body. Together, we will explore how your body holds and expresses emotional experiences, build awareness of your needs, and develop new ways of relating to yourself with compassion and clarity.

Alongside my private practice, I support individuals through the Halton Region Victim Quick Response Program (VQRP).

My therapy space is grounded in safety, openness, and respect, a place for honest, courageous conversations and meaningful change. Even when it may not feel possible, healing and growth are always within reach.

I am an affirming ally to gender-diverse individuals and the LGBTQ+ community.

CLINICAL SUPERVISION

I offer a dedicated space to reflect on the complex realities of direct practice and the ways your own life experiences, personal history, and emotional responses can shape the work. In helping professions, it is essential to understand how transference, countertransference, stress, and personal triggers may enter the therapeutic space so that they do not interfere with the client’s process.  I provide clinical supervision to social workers seeking thoughtful, reflective support in their work with clients.  Together, we work to deepen understanding of the clinical material, strengthen your formulation and conceptualization skills, and support your growth as a practitioner.

My areas of supervision include trauma, family violence, sexual abuse, intrafamilial harm, school-based social work, justice-involved practice, complex family dynamics, systems navigation, and multifaceted client presentations. I also support clinicians in making sense of challenging cases so they can respond with greater confidence, coherence, and effectiveness. Supervision is also a vital support in reducing burnout, managing overwhelm, and sustaining longevity and satisfaction in your career.

PROFESSIONAL TRAINING & CONSULTATION

I provide training and consultation to clinicians and organizations across Canada in areas including trauma, vicarious trauma, transference, sibling relationships, sexual abuse prevention, and working therapeutically within complex family dynamics. I also support newer professionals as they transition into practice, helping them build confidence, clinical skill, and reflective capacity. I have been committed to making specialized knowledge practical, accessible, and clinically meaningful.

What is a registered social worker?

Registered social workers in a clinical setting focus on therapeutic assessment, treatment, and intervention of mental health, and emotional concerns.  Individual, couples, family, and group therapy are common treatment areas. Social workers who provide these services are required to be licensed with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW), and hold a minimum Masters degree from an accredited university.  Registered social workers also have significant training, supervision, and extensive experience working in the mental health arena.
